Following are the important objectives of the Institute: serve as a seminal agency to generate new ideas and concepts for the healthy development of parliamentary democracy; train different stakeholders – people’s representatives, youths, students, women, civil society organisations, officials and others-on various aspects of democratic governance, and parliamentary practices and traditions; undertake studies and research in areas of public interest in ways that facilitate timely and appropriate policy interventions by the Government; develop a think-tanks on public policies by establishing a core group consisting of academics, administrators, informed citizens and public men to aid the Government in policy formulation; establish linkage with legislative and academic institutions at a regional, national and global level for exchanging of information, sharing experience and undertaking joint activities of common interests; organise training/orientation programmes and workshops for elected representatives and public officials; act a research centre to co-ordinate all research activities undertaken on parliamentary democracy; and to serve as a link between the public and the elected representatives.
